STONE COUNTY PIONEERS
James K. Gordon and his wife, Loretta, were among the spectators
who watched the ceremonies unfold during Stone County's 150th Anniversary
Celebration on the square in Galena, June 2, 2001. Jim Gordon grew
up in the hills around Cape Fair. For years he milked several head
of registered Jerseys, east of Galena.
Loretta is the daughter of Alonzo and Thelma Thomas.
Besides having the undisputed reputation as one of "the best cooks in Stone
County," Loretta has worked as a waitress and at the casket factory that
was in Crane. The Gordons will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary
later this year.
