The South Rides Again

Stone County's 150th Anniversary Parade welcomed several participants like this rider dressed in the uniform of the Confederate States of America.

Missouri joined the United States as a "slave state," but sided with the Union during the Civil War.

In the 1860's, this "Johnny Reb" would have been riding through the hills of Stone County to meet up with his forces to greet the "Yankees" at a battle like Wilson's Creek, in Greene County, near Springfield.
