Clarence O. "Mote" Butler, 1888-1975, was born in Galena.
He was the son of James W. Butler and Thersa Stephens, and the grandson
of John Butler and Nancy B. Proby Butler who migrated to the Ozarks in
1842 from Bedford, TN. He lived in Galena until WWI. He married Lola Pound
Butler in 1919. She was born in Iuka, KS.They returned to live nearby his
cousin Charley Butler and remained in Reed's Spring until 1939 when they
moved to California.
