CARSTEN FAMILY John William Carsten was born July 17, 1894 the son of Louis Frederick Carsten and Margaret Bell Nokes.  He was to married Dice Lou "Vernie" Wilhite on September 24, 1913. She was born April 27, 1896 the daughter of James and Malinda (Jackson) Wilhite, and granddaughter of Gilbert and Dice Jackson, pioneers of Stone County. The photo above shows John and Vernie with their children, from left: James Louis, b. January 8, 1924; Willliam Franklin "Jack", b. February 15, 1916; Leo "Joe", b.
