William Thomas "Tom" Maples (1845-1917) was the son of Ephraim Maples. This photo of William Thomas "Tom" with his second wife, Mary E."Molly" (Hooton) Maples was taken at their home in Self, Missouri (just south of Clever across the county line in Stone County), probably around 1910.
Tom's first wife, Martha Ann Stewart Maples, died in March, 1907. He was married second to Mary E. "Mollie" Hooton on August 7, 1907. Family stories say that Mollie, who was twenty-two years younger than her husband, took her own life by jumping into a well. Tom remarried on February 15, 1913, to Jennie Chastain. This marriage lasted but a few months. He married, for the fourth time, to Lucinda Elizabeth Eaton, on August 23, 1915. There were no children by the last three marriages.
Tom died May 17, 1917 and is buried in the Union Ridge
Cemetery, next to his first wife, Martha. Paul Jackson is the gg-grandson
of Tom Maples.
