Much can be learned from old receipts and promisory notes,
such as the ones below sent to us by Pat
Moyer, gg-granddaughter of Herman George Michel. Here we see
that Mr.Herman Michel spent seventy five cents for hiring a buggy from
Mr. J.T.R. Ladd in 1894. The second note shows that Mr. Michel borrowed
forty five dollars from American Harrow Co.and the third shows that payment
of Mr. George Michel's medical expense for his last illness was paid by
the administrator of his estate. Don't you wonder where Mr. Michel
went in the buggy, and why he needed the forty five dollars, and sadly
last don't you wonder what Mr. George Michel died from? These three
pieces of paper, saved by a caring family member provided a Michel family
researcher a few clues to the family history as well as an insight into
the lives and times of her ancestors.
