Pictured at left in the 1800's is the family of Herman George (went by the name George) and Anna (Benne) Michel. Pictured with them are their sons from left: George Fredrick and Herman Henry. Another son not shown in picture is Charles Henry Michel. Herman George was born in Hessen Darmstadt Germany in 1840. He died about February 17, 1894, in Stone Co. Grant Twp. at his home. Anna was born in Prussia in 1848. They are buried in Marionville IOOF Cemetery Block 3 Old Part Lot 6. Their headstone is a sandstone that says 1893. George and Anna first appear in 1880 Census in St. Louis, Mo. They were married March 12, 1870 at Friedens Evangelical Church in St. Louis, Mo. (Photos courtesy of Pat Moyer, gg-granddaugther) |

According to Pat Moyer, gg-granddaughter of George and Anna,
"George is listed on the Abstracts of Wills and Administrations of Stone
County Mo. (page 29). I have a copy of a receipt from the Collector's
Office of Stone County dated Dec. 12, 1883 for the amount of $6.29
for 120 acres.Sec. Lot 6 Twp. Block 26 Range 24 paid by George Michel.
The St. Louis and San Francisco Railway Company organized under Act of
Congress and the Laws of the State of Missouri, in consideration
of the sum of Six Hundred $600.00 dollars to it paid by George Michel of
Stone County in the state of Missouri does hereby grant, bargain, and sell
unto the said George Michel a certain parcel of land situated in Stone
County, in the state of Missouri, containing One Hundred and Twenty (120)
acres more or less, and described as follows: Lot (1) of the South West
Quarter and East Half of Lot One(1) of the North West Quarter of
Section numbered Six (6) in Township numbered Twenty Six (26) North of
Range numbered Twenty Four (24) West of the Fifth Principal Meridian.George
and Anna's sons Herman & Charles inherited and divided the 120 acres
when their parents died."
